The Crimson nine split its two post-exam games to date, bowing, 4 to 1, to Amherst, and defeating Williams, 7 to 5.
Lord Jeff captain Ted Kambour handled the Crimson easily at Soldiers Field Wednesday. The left-hander gave up only three hits as he went the route, striking out six and walking three.
Harvard scored first, as Dick Fisher singled in the second, advanced on an incompetent pick-off attempt and a fielder's choice, and came home on a double steal as Matt Botsford took second.
But that was about it for the Crimson. Amherst tied the score in the third and tallied again in the sixth, knocking out started Dom Repetto. Reliever Joel Bernstein stopped the visitors in that frame, but couldn't handle them the next inning, as they scored twice more to clinch the victory. Meanwhile, Kambour held the home team hitless in the last three innings.
