Runners Lose

Brown's freshman cross-country team handed the Yardling runners their second straight defeat with a 23-32 put-down in Franklin Park yesterday.

Doug Hardin saved some face for the Crimson, taking first place by two seconds over the Bruins' Hammond Armour. Brown took three of the next four places to wrap up the win. Only Jim Strinchcomp (5th) broke up the Bruin monopoly.

Frank Sulloway (7th), Bruce Jones (9th), and Tim McLoone (10th) rounded out the scoring for Harvard.

Admittedly, Brown recruits jocks as much as any school in the league, but Harvard should have put up a better fight.

This team is loaded with 4:30 milers. Maybe they just have to learn to pace themselves. After winning the season opener against Providence, the Yardlings were dumped by Northeastern last week. Hardin finished second in that one.
