HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
The Dunster House Committee has reversed a previous decisions and will allow one of the two Harvard Undergraduate Council representatives to be chosen in a House-wide election on Thursday.
The committee--which decided last week that it would choose both representatives--made the change in response to a petition calling for a House-wide vote. Nearly 100 students signed the petition over the weekend.
The House committee chairman, Thomas J. shields '69, will be Dunster's other HUC representative.
The HUC constitution gives House Committees the responsibility to select the election procedure. Three other Houses--Kirkland, Leverett, and Winthrop--are also choosing HUC representatives in House-Wide votes.
