Yardling Cagers Triumph, 112-96; Floyd Wilson Pilots Team to Win

Floyd Lewis grabbed 26 rebounds and dumped in 33 points and James Brown scored 36 points to lead the freshman basketball team to a 112-96 victory over Chamberlayne Junior College, making the return of coach Floyd Wilson to the court a memorable one.

Wilson, who coached the Harvard varsity from 1954-1968, is filling in as freshman coach until John Harvey-a former assistant of Bob Harrison-takes over.

Although its play was sloppy and even lethargic at times, Harvard dominated the play for the last three quarters by thrashing Chamberlayne on the boards. The cagers outrebounded Chamberlayne, 67-27, and gained many of its scores on second shots and tip-ins.

The hardcourtmen got off to a shaky start, throwing the ball away and failing to get back on defense. But with the game tied 32-32 halfway through the first half, Harvard caught fire and built a 20-point lead in the next seven minutes.

The freshmen, in running their record to 5-1, boosted their points per-game average to 105.
