The final statistics for Harvard's 1971 football season reveal an unusual three way tie for top scorer between backs Ted DeMars. Rich Gatto and kicker Bruce Tetirick. DeMars and Gatto scored six touchdowns each, while Tetirick booted five field goals and 21 extra points.
Captain Dave Ignacio led his fellow Crimson defensemen in tackling, punt returns and interceptions. Ignacio made 71 tackles and assists. He returned two punts for a total of 40 yards and a touchdown, and caught five of his opponents' passes.
Rod Foster, Mike Murr and Gatto led the team in kickoff returns, with 238, 232 and 75 respectively. Foster totaled 9 returns. Murr 11 and Gatto 4.
Jim Stoeckel led fellow quarterbacks Eric Crone and Foster in forward passing. Stoeckel completed 39 out of 79 for 487 yards. Crone hit 22 out of 47 for 345 yards, while Foster was 34 for 67 with 286 yards gained.
