Cagers Not Yet Among Teams Chosen by NIT

By J. C.

The National Invitation Tournament selection committee added five more basketball teams to its invited list, but Harvard, 16-10 for the season, was not among them.

Six bids are yet to be made, and speculation has it that the Crimson, which finished second in the Ivy League standings, has about a one-in-three chance of being among the final selections next week.

Five of the places will probably go to runners-up in the Big Ten, the Big Eight, the Atlantic Coast, the Missouri Valley, and the Mid-America Conferences.

The final bid could go to the runner-up in either the Ivy League (Harvard), the Southwest Conference, or the Ohio Valley Conference.

St. John's (17-8), Syracuse (19-6), Hawaii (22-4), Georgia Tech (20-8), and La Salle (20-6) joined St. Bonaventure, Dayton, Tennessee, Massachusetts, and Providence-the five teams that were selected last week.
