Flood From Drain Covers the Floors Of Lowell Suites

By M. BRETT Gladstone and George K. Sweetnam

Nearly an inch and a half of water covered the floors of four suites in A and B entries in Lowell House late last night.

As of 11:45 p.m., water was still flowing out of the shower drains and toilet into the suites.

Water was seeping through the floor, soaking boxes of students' belongings piled in a storage room in the basement.

A spokesman from the department of Buildings and Grounds said last night that two engineers were sent to the site of the flood to fix what was thought to be a broken drain on the outside of the building.

"We heard this loud bubbling from the direction of the bathroom," Leda Cosmides '79 said. "Then came voices from the basement: 'I can't swim."

B-entry experienced similar flooding a few days ago. John Bowles '79, a B-entry resident said last night, "This is becoming a ritual--we call it Old Faithful."
