HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
Although the Supreme Court justices had already repaired to their chambers to consider the Bakke case, anti-Bakke groups from throughout the Boston area last week continued to dramatize their support for special minority admissions programs, and their opposition to Bakke's challenge.

At the courthouse, the protestors cheered two vehement speeches in support of affirmative action and warning that Bakke's challenge is just part of a larger effort to turn back the advances made by women, minorities and other historically disadvantaged groups in the past ten years.
