The Committee on Women's Studies submitted a proposal to Dean Rosovsky this week asking him to take immediate steps toward establishing a women's studies program at Harvard.

The proposal asks Rosovsky to appoint a committee to investigate the need for such a program, and to consider the possible establishment of a concentration in women's studies.

The Standing Committee on the Status of Women has said for several years it does not believe the College should establish a degree-granting program in the field, but merely increase the courses on women.

The Committee on Women's Studies was apparently split on that question, but believes that without action by the dean there will continue to be deficiencies in many areas.
