ITHACA, N.Y.--Highly touted junior quarterback Doug Butler passed for 215 yards and one touchdown and Jim Anderson returned an interception 100 yards for a touchdown as Princeton downed Cornell, 17-9, Saturday in upstate New York.
The Tigers opened the scoring at 8:10 of the first quarter when Anderson intercepted a Shawn Maguire pass at the Cornell goal line and raced 100 yards for the tally.
Anderson also killed any hopes of a Big Red comeback when he intercepted another Maguire pass in the end zone with just 2:38 remaining.
Besides the two interceptions, Cornell was also unable to generate any semblance of a running game. The Big Red picked up just 69 yards on 32 carries.
