Roger Clemens of the Boston Red Sox became the first American League pitcher in more than a decade to win consecutive Cy Young awards, claiming the 1987 trophy yesterday.

Clemens, 20-9 with 256 strikeouts in 281 2-3 innings this year, received 21 of 28 first-place votes and 124 points in balloting.
