All-You-Can-Eat Ice Cream Festival

•

If you're feeling a little hot in today's high-of-73-degree weather, this all-you-can-eat ice cream festival could be the perfect respite from the Boston heat.

The 28th annual Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl ice cream festival begins today at City Hall Plaza in Boston. Nine of the nation's leading ice cream companies—Baskin-Robbins, Ben & Jerry’s, Breyer's, Brigham’s, Ciao Bella Gelato, Edy’s, Garelick Farms/Gifford’s, Häagen-Dazs, and HP Hood—will be serving up more than 30 flavors of ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sorbet from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, tomorrow, and Thursday for just $8 ($7 if you text SCOOP to 22122).

All proceeds will go to the Jimmy Fund, which supports the fight against cancer in children and adults at Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School.

Think of it as a three-way deal: eating lots of ice cream, cooling down from the heat, and raising money to fight cancer—all at the same time.
