HARVARD 2ND ELEVEN, 12; TECHS, 10.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Yesterday afternoon the second eleven played the regular Technology team on the Union Grounds in Boston. Harvard won, but the contest was very loose and devoid of interesting plays. The make-up of the team was as follows:-

Harvard-Rushers, Slocum, Appleton, Trafford, Horne, Brainard, Bradlee, Bancroft; quarter-back, Nichols; half-backs, Hunnewell, Perry; fullback, Higginson.

Techs.-Rushers, Tracy, Macaully, Vorce, Ladd, Mitchell, Dame; quarter-back, Herrick; half-backs, Garrison, Germer; full-back, Devens.

Brooks, Harvard '87, was referee, and called the game at 3.40. Harvard had the ball and the east end of the field. Harvard immediately forced the ball into Tech territory, and good rushes by Hunnewell and Nichols brought it within ten feet of the line. Here the ball was dropped and Tech got possession of it. They soon lost it and Horne got it and made the first touchdown for Harvard. Perry failed to kick a goal. After the kick-off, Perry made two bad muffs and Tech gained considerable ground. Bradlee made a good rush, however, but then the ball went to Tech after four downs were called. Germer got the ball and rushed the whole length of the field making first touchdown for Technology. Garrison kicked a goal. After the kick-off the ball was forced again into the Tech territory when Nichols was hurt in the leg. Clement took his place. Brainard now got into a fight with Ladd and was disqualified. Smith look his place. By some means Macaullay got the ball and had a clear field. He made the second touch down for Tech. Time was called before a goal was attempted. Score-10-4 in favor of Tech.

The second half opened in a very uninteresting manner. The rushers on both sides were poor. Germer in attempting to make a fair catch collided with Devens and lost the ball. Bancroft got it and passed to Bradle, who made a touchdown. Perry failed to kick the goal. The playing now seemed to be without any snap. Harvard blocked very poorly and repeatedly failed to get touchdowns even when within 20 feet of the line. At last the ball was kicked over the Tech line and Slocum managed to fall on it first. Then Perry tried for a goal but failed and Trafford got another touchdown, but the referee decided that Perry must kick it over again as the failure was intentional. The second kick resulted in a goal which, however, was not allowed, as some of the Harvard team were off side. The game was now called at 5 03 with the score 12-10 in favor of Harvard.
