The Food at Memorial to be Improved.

Although no definite action has as yet been taken by the management of Memorial Hall on the plan for the improvement of the board, which was proposed some time ago, still the scheme has been the subject of careful consideration and was referred to a committee, who have been making a thorough investigation. Every possible pressure has been brought to bear upon the steward, and increased care is used in the preparation of the food. One change, which was recommended by the CRIMSON, has already been made. The regular set bill of fare has been changed as far as possible and is varied from day to day, with excellent results, while additional dishes often appear at breakfast. The directors endeavor to remove the causes of complaint whenever possible. As an instance, several additional pounds of coffee are now used every day to remedy the weakness of the coffee which was objected to. Airing the hall more, so that the unpleasant odor may not be so perceptible as heretofore, will necessitate the use of an extra quarter of a ton of coal daily. These changes will probably cause a rise in the price of board, which the management especially wish to avoid, and, in consequence, will be as economical as possible. Members of the board have tried the various boarding houses to compare the food served with that of the Hall, and their conclusion is, taking the price into consideration, that Memorial fare is as good as could possibly be expected. The committee will probably make a report upon the practicability of the proposed changes soon after the mid-years, and measures will be taken to carry out the resuggestions. The system in the Hall is so complicated that any "tinkering" takes effect on the price of board, the responsibility for which will rest on the directors, who are consequently unwilling to take any steps without the most careful consideration.
