Football at Union is in a promising condition, although the line will not be as heavy as last year. Lyon '99, will play ful back; Sweetland, '97, centre; Mallery, '96, right end; Peters '96, right half back. For the other places there is lively competition, Smith '99, and Sommer '96, trying for quarterback; Captain Beckwith '96, Palmer '97, Bookhout '97, and Beardsley '99, for right and left tackle; Barry '99, and Jones '98, for left end; Taylor '96, and McMillan '98, for left guard; Terry '96, and Willis '97, for right guard; Hayes '99, and Myers '96, for left half back.

The team is being coached by Mr. E. M. Church, captain of the University of Pennsylvania team, '90-'92, and under his direction the general style of the Pennsylvania game is followed. He is assisted by ex-Captain Brown of last year's team.

The schedule of games is as follows: Oct. 12, Middlebury at Schenectady; Oct. 19, Amherst at Albany; Oct. 23, Princeton at Princeton; Oct. 26, R. P. I. at Schenectady; Oct. 30, Ridgefield at Albany; Nov. 2, Dartmouth at Manchester, N. H.; Nov. 9, Williams at Albany; Nov. 16, West Point at West Point; Nov. 23, Wesleyan at Albany.
