The Yale University Catalogue, issued Tuesday, shows a gradual development along all lines and in all departments. The total membership of the university is 2415, a gain of 65 over last year. Entrance examinations in English literature hereafter will be conducted in the subjects proposed by the commission of leading instructors in New England colleges, instead of a list compiled by the Yale faculty.
The course of study at the Law School is to be extended to three years instead of two, and in the Medical School from three years to four. These changes will take effect beginning with September, 1896.
Two new trustees are announced for the Peabody Museum. They are Cornelius Vanderbilt and W. C. Whitney of New York. The Learned scholarship will be given to the member of the present freshman class who heads his class in scholarship at the end of this year. A number of important additions are also made to the elective courses.
