Students' Bible Class.

The students' Historic Bible Class at the Shepard Memorial Church has been lately reorganized. The class is an old one, having been active before the present pastor took up his work. It has been at various times under the guidance of Dr. McKenzie, Professor Thayer, and others well fitted to teach in the broad spirit of contemporary thought.

The plan for this year, under Professor J. W. Platner of the Harvard Divinity School, is to take up the Bible as literature-first the old testament, then if time, the new; considering in outline questions of origin, authorship, structure, etc. The work will consist chiefly of informal lectures by Professor Platner, with references to the best literature for those who can afford time for more detailed study. At the first meeting, held last Sunday, about one hundred were present, students from Harvard University and Radcliffe College, and other young people not connected with either. The class has done good work in the past, and it is hoped that any Harvard students who desire to study the literary aspects of the Bible in the light of all that is best in modern scholarship and thought, will ally themselves with it. The meetings are held at the close of the morning service in the students' transept of the church.
