The trial tournament to select Harvard's fourth representative in the annual intercollegiate tournament which is to be held at New Haven this week, was finished on Saturday. R. C. Thomas 1M., won the finals by defeating E. W. Leonard '03, in straight sets. Leonard had already played two hard matches and could not keep to his true form. Thomas placed well and made good cross-court drives, but was not compelled to exert himself.

The best match of the day was that between Leonard and G. M. McConnell '01. McConnell was out of practice, as was shown by his service, but had great speed and at times placed effectively from the back line. The match between Rathbun and Beals was long and stubbornly contested, but neither player showed consistent first class form.

The summary of Saturday's play is as follows; Leonard beat McConnell, 6-4, 4-6, 9-7. Rathbun beat Beals, 7-5, 2-6, 11-9. Leonard beat Bidwell, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. Thomas beat Rathbun, 6-3, 6-4. Thomas beat Leonard, 6-3, 6-1, 6-3.
