FALL TRACK GAMES

Shot Put Record Broken.--Other Results are Ordinary.--Summary.

The University fall track games were held yesterday afternoon on Holmes Field. The cold weather and a slight wind made the times times of the track events poor, but the field events, with the exception of the high jump, were up to the average. All the scheduled events took place, except the finals of the 220-yards dash, which were postponed until Monday on account of darkness. The hurdle races had very few entries. The best individual performance was by H. F. Cochems 3L, who put the shot 42 feet 1-2 inches, thus breaking the previous Harvard record of 40 feet, 10 1-2 inches. Cochems, however, is ineligible to compete in any intercollegiate games on account of the four-year rule.

The summary of the games is as follows:

100 yards dash--First heat won by B. C. Lancy '03, 1 yd.; second, R. Inglis '03, 4 yds. Time, 10 1-2s. Second heat won by J. E. Haigh '03, 2 yds.; second, R. W. Robbins '02, 5 yds. Time, 10 2-5s. Third heat won by G. H. Mifflin '00, 5 yds.; second, J. R. Wyckoff '02, 5 yds. Time, 10 4-5s. Final heat won by Haigh, Robbins second, Lancy third. Time, 10 1-2s.

220 yards dash--First heat won by W. G. Clerk '01, 3 yds.; second, P. L. Fish '01, 3 yds.; third, C. Seaver '02, 10 yds. Time, 23 3-5s. Second heat won by R. Inglis '03, 8 yds.; second, R. W. Robbins '02, 10 yds.; third, G. H. Mifflin '00, 10 yds. Final heat postponed.

440 yards dash--Won by H. B. Young Sp., 10 yds.; second, S. Waller '03, 15 yds.; third, Gregg Richards '02, 20 yds. Time, 53 1-5s.

Half mile run--Won by W. A. Apple- gate '01, 30 yds.; second, C. J. Swan '01, 40 yds.; third, G. E. Behr, Jr., 40 yds. Time, 1m., 59 3-5s.

Mile run--Won by F. C. Williams '01, 80 yds.; second, H. B. Smith '00, 60 yds.; third, E. Randolph '03, 80 yds. Time, 4m., 35s.

120 yards hurdles--Won by R. Wellman '03, 8 yds.; second, F. C. Ware '01, 3 yds.; third, R. Abercrombie '03, scratch. Time, 18 1-5s.

220 yard hurdles--Won by F. C. Ware '01, 5 yds.; second, E. H. Webb '01, 5 yds. Time, 30s.

Shot put--Won by H. F. Cochems 3L., scratch, with a put of 42 ft. 1-2 in. H. J. Brown '02, 2 ft., second, with an actual put of 38 ft., 9 3-4 in.

High jump--Won by P. Bartlett '02, 4 in.; second, F. C. Ware '01, 3 in.; third, N. F. Glidden, Jr., '03, 2 in. These three men tied with actual jumps of, 5 ft., 6 3-4 in, Bartlett winning on his handicap.

Running broad jump--Won by N. F. Glidden, Jr., '03, 1 ft., with a jump of 20 ft. 1 1-2 in.; second, A. P. Young '01, with a jump of 18 ft. 9 in.; third, H. B. Horwitz '03, with a jump of 17 ft. 2 in
