In a very loosely played game yesterday afternoon the Freshman nine defeated the M. I. T. freshmen by a score of 30 12. Both teams hit the ball hard and it was only owing to the wretched fielding on the part of M. I. T. that the game was so one sided. Coonley was weak in the box and the Freshmen used poor judgment in base running. The game was called at the end of the seventh inning. The score by innings: Batteries--Coonlev and Marean; Dunham, Winchester and Pembroke. The Freshmen will play Groton School at Groton this afternoon. The batting orders: Freshmen--Dever, c.f.; Jackson, 2b.; Clarkson, p.; Storey, 3b.; Comins, l.f.; Baldwin, 1b.; Black, c.f.; Van Amringe, s.s.; Marean, c. Groton--Sturgis, c.; Joy, 1b.; Markoe, p.; Robeson, l.f.; Potter, 2b.; Crocker, r.f.; Cary, c.f.; Rogers, 3b.; Sawyer, s.s.
