The Union Library.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In the library of the Union there will be accomodation on the shelves for 18,000 books and it is very earnestly hoped by the committee that these will be filled in a comparatively short time after the opening of the Union.

Mr. James H. Hyde of New York has made a large donation, a small part of which is to be used immediately for buying books. The larger part will be a permanent endowment fund, the income of which will be spent in the purchase of books.

The various undergraduate clubs and religious and literary organizations have been appealed to for donations of books, as have also the graduate clubs all over the country. It is the intention of the committee to ask all the living Harvard graduates who have published books for copies of their words.
