The Cambridge-Oxford lacrosse team defeated the University team on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon by a score of 7 to 5 in one of the best games of lacrosse ever played in Cambridge.

Both teams played a strong game, but the work of the English team in the second half was especially remarkable. At the close of the first half the score was 5 to 2 in favor of the University team, but in the second half the English team prevented the University players from scoring, and themselves threw five goals.

In the first half the attack of the University team was speedy and accurate and the defense strong. The team played together well and were very effective in dodging and outrunning their opponents. The defense played well throughout the game, the work of Phillips, E.N. Smith, Kibbey, and Rice being especially good. In the first half the work of Blaxter and Penhallow was also of a high quality.

For the English team, Scott at goal and Plartley at first attack were especially strong, and the team as a whole played a game as effective as it was clean and sportsmanlike.
