Meeting of Football Rules Committee

The Football Rules Committee, composed of R. D. Wrenn '95, P. J. Dashiell of Annapolis, A. A. Stagg of Chicago University, Walter Camp of Yale, Professor Fine of Princeton, Professor Dennis of Cornell, and J. C. Bell of the University of Pennsylvania, will hold a meeting in Philadelphia this afternoon to discuss the adoption of new football regulations for next year. The most important change proposed is the legalizing of the forward pass. This change, it is said, has been advocated by Mr. Wrenn and Mr. Dashiell in response to the stand taken by President Eliot for a more open style of play. The other members of the Committee, except Mr. Stagg, have vigorously opposed the new plan, holding that the present rules favor the open game if the coaches will only teach it. It is expected that final action in regard to the change will be taken at the meeting today.
