About 75 new men have reported for the track team during the week, raising the total number of candidates to nearly 230. The number of candidates for the different events is approximately as follows: mile and two-mile, 57; half-mile, 50; quarter-mile, 30; sprints, 50; hurdles, 17; high-jump, 12; broad-jump, 26; pole-vault, 10; hammer-throw, 8; shotput, 5.

During the week Coach Lathrop has been systematizing the squad so that individual attention may be devoted to each candidate. The sprinters have been running easy stretches and the hurdlers are practicing their stride and paying special attention to form. On Thursday E. H. Clark '96 and W. F. Garcelon '95 coached the weight men and hurdlers, respectively. The squad of milers and two milers on Thursday for the first time ran 12 laps around the track, a distance of three miles. Next week Mr. Clark will devote more time to the weight men, who up to now have had little systematic coaching. At present more candidates are especially needed for the hammer-throw, the shot-put and the pole-vault.

The first meet this spring will be the annual spring handicap games on May 1. These games are open to members of the University, and all men who intend to try for the University team are expected to enter. Entries should be made in the blue book, which will be hung near the blackboard in the Locker Building.

The class games will be held in the Stadium on May 8, and the annual dual meet with Yale, on May 20, at New Haven. In the following week, on May 26 and 27, the intercollegiate games will be held on Franklin Field, Philadelphia.
