JOSIAH QUINCY '80 IN UNION

Lecture on "Municipal Government" in Living Room at 7.30.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Mr. Josiah Quincy '80 will speak, under the auspices of the Political Club, in the Union this evening at 7.30 o'clock on "Municipal Government."

Mr. Quincy was graduated from the University in 1880 and was admitted to the bar a few years later, although he never took up active practice as a lawyer. He has served in the Massachusetts State Legislature for four years, has been chairman of the Democratic State Committee, and in 1893 accepted a position in the Federal Government as first assistant secretary of state. He became mayor of Boston in 1895 and served four years. As mayor he pursued a broad constructive policy and inaugurated several new departures, as free evening lectures and summer camps for boys. Recently Mr. Quincy delivered a lecture on a similar subject before the Yale Law School Political Club.

The lecture will be open to all members of the Political Club and of the Union.
