HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
The gymnastic team held the first practice of the year yesterday afternoon in the Gymnasium. About 18 candidates were present, among whom were W. C. Bennett '08, captain of the team, G. S. Taylor '08, manager, J. Tyng, A. S. Burnham '10 and L. Souder '10, all of last year's squad.
Practice will be held every day except Saturday from 5 to 6.30 o'clock.
In January a novice meet will be held, for which anyone who has not before competed in a gymnastic meet will be eligible. Prizes will be offered for the different events, and the judges will be chosen from outside colleges.
Yesterday afternoon the Freshman football team defeated the Salem High School team on Soldiers Field by the score of 34 to 0. During the first half the Freshman scored a touchdown on an average of every three minutes.
