The University tennis team defeated the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Jarvis Field yesterday afternoon, by the score of 5 to 1.

None of the matches was close with the exception of the second match in the doubles in which Fanning and Nicholl of Technology defeated A.N. Reggio '07 and A.S. Dabney, Jr., '09. The Technology team, although composed of good players, showed their lack of practice. J.M. Morse '07 and C.C. Pell '08 did the best playing for Harvard, both in the singles and the doubles.

The scores were as follows:

Singles--J.M. Morse (H.) defeated J.I.B. Larned (T.), 6-1, 6-2; C.C. Pell (H.) defeated P.R. Fanning (T.), 6-3, 6-2; A.S. Dabney, Jr., (H.) defeated W.B. Coffin (T.), 6-2, 6-1; A.M. Harlow (H.) defeated J.S. Nicholl (T.), 6-4, 6-3.

Doubles--Morse and Pell (H.) defeated Larned and Coffin (T.); 6-4, 6-3; Nicholl and Fanning (T.) defeated Reggio and Dabney (H.), 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
