TAPPAN BACK ON CREW

Replaced Burchard at Bow Yesterday.--Lovering Tried at 5 in First Boat.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University and second crews paddled down to the Union Boat Club and back late yesterday afternoon, accompanied by Coach Wray in the launch. Tappan, who has not rowed since the Columbia race, was put in at bow in place of Burchard; and Lovering was tried at 5, in place of Severance. Owing to these changes, as a result of which Lovering rowed on the starboard side of the boat for the first time, the shell was unsteady yesterday and the form was more ragged than recently.

In the second crew, Burchard rowed at 3 and Morgan replaced G. Bacon at stroke, the latter going to 2.

The orders:

University crew--Stroke, Farley; 7, Richardson; 6, R. Bacon; 5, Lovering; 4, Lunt; 3, Faulkner, 2, Fish; bow, Tappan; cox., Blagden.

Second crew--Stroke, Morgan; 7, Amberg; 6, Swaim; 5, Hanfstaengl; 4, Macdonald; 3, Burchard; 2, G. Bacon; bow, Wiggins; cox., Arnold.
