THE FOOTBALL TEAM.

The football game with Williams on Saturday showed that the material for the Harvard team is really remarkably strong, and that its development has proceeded farther than usual at the third game of the season. This has been repeated again and again, but it remained for a game against a team of recognized strength to prove the truth of these conjectures.

That the team is not sure of continuing to play in its present form was also demonstrated by Saturday's contest. In spite of the more open game as played under the new rules, men will be hurt, and misfortune in this respect will ruin the prospects of any team. Injuries which make it necessary for substitutes to play regularly, throw greater responsibility upon the men who are fortunate in avoiding accidents. All the members of the team individually and collectively must continue to develop at top speed if they are to meet Yale on equal terms in spite of the possible absence of any of the strongest players.
