THE REPORT OF THE CO-OPERATIVE.

It is with exceeding gratification that the CRIMSON is able to report the most successful year's business in the history of the Co-operative Society. The total business shows an increase of $48,937.28, while the sum to be distributed as dividends is larger than last year by $3,339.73. These figures show that between 6 and 7 per cent. of the increase has been realized as clear profit. It may appear from these figures that a smaller gain was made upon the business added last year, than upon that portion which continued through from the year before. This is not the case, for the percentage of trade with members of the Co-operative is only a little more than half of the entire business. With this in view, it will be seen that the increment has furnished profit enough to declare a dividend of about 12 per cent. on the increased sales to members.

That the outside business of the Society has so materially increased is proof of efficient service, excellent goods, and reasonable prices. This more than the purchases made by the members of the University demonstrates the position which the Co-operative has made for itself. The record of the past year in surpassing all others forms an achievement of which those in charge of the Society may justly feel proud.
