The annual meeting of the Harvard Aeronautical Society was held in the Assembly Room of the Union last evening. Professor A. L. Rotch h.'91, president of the society, presided, and introduced the speakers. E. C. Brown '12, secretary of the society, read his report and that of the treasurer, which showed a balance of $76.53. After these reports were read, the following men were elected officers for the ensuing year: president, Professor A. L. Rotch h.'91; vice-president, J. V. Martin; treasurer, A. Sweetser '11; secretary, E. C. Brown '12; directors, R. M. Allen '11, P. C. Cummin '12, R. Douglas '12, H. L. Groves '12, R. K. Rindge '11; advisory council, Professor H. N. Davis '03, Professor I. N. Hollis h.'99, Professor R. W. Willson '73.
Mr. A. D. Claflin, manager of the Harvard-Boston Aero Meet, was the first speaker. He suggested that the society should hold an intercollegiate glider meet sometime next June. Although several other colleges are contemplating such an action, the Harvard society is the one best fitted to initiate such a contest. Mr. Claflin mentioned the fact that next spring Mr. Grahame-White intends to open a school in Boston, at which he will give instruction in aviation.
Mr. A. A. Merrill, the only other speaker, advised the erection of an artificial slope on the society's field at Squantum, from which all the members of the society might have an opportunity to make a flight.
Following Mr. Merrill's speech, a short business meeting was held, at which J. V. Martin was elected as delegate, and R. M. Allen '11 as alternate, to the meeting of the National Council of Aero Clubs, which will be held in New York next Tuesday.
