Lawrence Won Track Competition

The all-round track and field competition which was held in the Stadium on Saturday afternoon was won by S. C. Lawrence, 2d, '10, with a total of 5812 points; J. P. Long '11, and O. M. Chadwick '11 were second and third with 5339 and 4933 points respectively.

Lawrence won first place in the running and standing high jumps, and in the pole-vault; second in the 100-yard dash, and third in the 440-yard walk. Long won first in the 100-yard dash; second in the 120-yard hurdles, 440-yard run, shot-put, standing high jump; and third in the hammer-throw. Chadwick gained first place in the 440-yard walk and the hammer-throw, and tied for first with Lawrence in the pole-vault; he also came in second in the standing high jump.

Each man was allowed to enter as many events as he pleased, and his performance in each was scored according to the A. A. U. tables, which are made on the basis that the world's record in any event counts 1000 points.
