The Freshman baseball team played its first practice game on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon, defeating Mechanics Arts High School 15 to 2. The game lasted eight innings and was loosely played by the high school team. The Freshmen started the game by scoring five runs in the first inning and clearly outplayed their opponents throughout the game. They secured a total of 12 hits, of which Clark got three out of four times up, one of them being a home run. Considering the fact that the Freshmen have had only a few days of good practice, the showing made by them yesterday was very satisfactory and promises a strong team.

The 1914 line-up was as follows: 3b., Wingate, Chatfield; 2b., Harvey; r.f., Randall; c., Reynolds, Osborn; s.s., Curtis, Faulkner; c.f., Clark; 1b., Milholland, Magwood; l.f., Perkins, Starbuck; p., Waterman, Sturgis; *Buffum. Score by innings.  1  2  3  4  5  6  7  8 -- 1914,  5  0  0  2  1  2  4  1--15 Mechanics Arts,  0  0  0  2  0  0  0  0-- 2 *Batted for Sturgis in the eighth.
