FIRST DEFEATED SECOND

IN HOCKEY SATURDAY AT BRAE BURN. PRINCETON WEDNESDAY.

The University hockey team defeated the second, 3 to 1, in a regular game played at the Brae Burn Country Club rink Saturday afternoon. During the first half play was in the first team's end of the rink most of the time; but in the second the forwards began to work better together and carried the puck down to their opponents' goal more frequently. Both sets of forwards were evidently bothered by the small size of the rink, although the second team men seemed to accustom themselves to it more quickly than the others. The experience of playing on it will undoubtedly prove of benefit, as the St. Nicholas rink in New York on which Wednesday's game with Princeton will be played is also small.

The first team's goals were made by Duncan and Sortwell, Duncan scoring one in the first half and Sortwell two in the second. Sortwell scored his goals by coming in unexpectedly from the wing on rebounds. Adams made the second team's only goal early in the second half on a shot from scrimmage.

The summary: FIRST TEAM.  SECOND TEAM. Sortwell, l.e.  r.e., Morgan Duncan, l.c.  r.c., Palmer, Pierce Huntington, r.c.  l.c., Adams Pierce, Reeves, r.e.  l.e., Baldwin Blackall, c.p.  c.p., Wingate Willetts, p.  p., Houston Gardner, g.  g., Smart
