For the first time this year, the University hockey team defeated the B. A. A. in a practice scrimmage yesterday afternoon, the score being 2 to 1. Phillips at right centre was the individual star, making both of the goals for the University on clean, acurate shots.
Since the cut in the squad on Saturday, the work of perfecting the team has begun in earnest. A marked improvement was noticeable yesterday, especially in passing and following back. The forward line is fast and has a powerful attack, at present excelling the defence. Hopkins and Sortwell in particular are playing fast games.
Willetts, regular point on last year's team, reported on Monday, and was in the line-up for a few minutes yesterday. Captain Gardner has not yet reported.
