FRESHMEN DEFEAT SECOND TEAM

1918 Team Much Superior to Seven They Vanquished, 5 to 4.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University second hockey team, and the Freshman team,--held a stiff practice on the rinks of the Stadium yesterday afternoon. H. P. Trainer '15 had charge of the second team, which was on the ice for the first time since before the recess, while P. H. Smart '14 was directing the work of the Freshmen.

The first part of the afternoon was spent in shooting practice, and then the teams lined up for a long, hard scrimmage, in which the Freshmen showed themselves very much superior. Although the final score was 5 to 4 in the Freshmen's favor, the seconds were unable to shoot a goal until the Freshman seven had been replaced by substitutes.

The Freshmen have an abundance of excellent material, and the team is improving, rapidly in stick-work and accuracy of shooting.

The two teams lined up in the following order for yesterday's scrimmage
