LARGE ATTENDANCE AT OPEN MEETING OF DRAMATIC CLUB

Over 100 members of the University were present at the first open meeting of the Dramatic Club, held in the Territorial Room of the Union last evening. Professor G. P. Baker '87 spoke on the work of the club and its place among other dramatic organizations of the amateur and professional stage. He emphasized the importance of the club as a school for future actors and producers. Many prominent members of the theatrical profession today were, as undergraduates of the University, members of this club.

Plans for the fall production were outlined by P. F. Reniers '16, president of the club, and it was announced that Henry Danton, of Manchester, England, has been engaged as coach. Mr. Danton comes from a well known theatrical family and has done some excellent work in this country, associated with the Frohmans and other producers.

Candidates from the Freshman and Sophomore classes for the stage, properties and electrical departments will report at Peabody Hall. Phillips Brooks House, Monday evening at 7 o'clock. The first reading of the play, at which all acting and stage candidates should be present will be held in Peabody Hall at 7.30 o'clock Monday evening.

Trials for parts will take place at 3 o'clock Tuesday in the Trophy Room of the Union. Blue-books will be placed at Leavitt & Peirce's until Tuesday noon for candidates to sign, Each candidate should have a five-minute speech to deliver at the trials. The publicity and poster competitions will start Wednesday evening.
