To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

How many men in Harvard University are aware of the true condition of the United States in the matter of national defence and preparedness for War? How many realize the danger which threatens us owing to our lamentable lack of preparedness? The time has come when we must give this matter our careful consideration. To this end the National Security League of Harvard University has been founded by a group of men interested in this subject. The purpose of this organization is to arouse such public sentiment as will influence the proper authorities to enforce some systematic plan of national defence along the lines laid down by the National Security Commission created by joint resolution of the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States.

It is surely fitting that Harvard should be among the leaders in a work of this kind. In order that every member of the University may have the opportunity to enroll himself in such a worthy cause, a meeting will be held in the Trophy Room of the Union on Tuesday, March 9, at 8 o'clock. At this meeting we shall explain the full purpose of the organization and outline a plan of action. W. M. CUSICK, ocC., President.   J. W. KEVENEY '15, Secretary.   National Security League of Harvard University.
