HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
The Harvard-Technology group of sanitary engineers, physicians, and sanitary inspectors, who are going to fight the typhus and cholera which is raging in Servia, will sail on the Athenia from New York this afternoon at 4 o'clock. They will be supported by the American Red Cross for an indefinite stay in Servia since their mission is a very dangerous and uncertain one.
Of the twenty-five members of the group, eighteen are from some department of the University or from Technology. Following is the list of names: from the Harvard-Technology School for Health Officers, E. Stuart (sanitary engineer in charge), Dr. H. B. Neagle, Dr. A. F. Cornelius, Dr. S. H. Osborn, Dr. H. H. Mitchell, R. S. Lyman, and Dr. R. W. Mendelssohn; from Technology, E. H. Magoon, E. H. Gage, A. W. Buck, G. W. Bakeman, H. E. Berger, Jr., R. D. Bates, C. G. Fox, J. E. Harrington, and C. E. Buck; from the University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, G. H. Hazelhurst; from the College, T. R. Schoonmaker '12.
