Hockey practice in the Arena will start this afternoon at 5 o'clock, when all candidates for the University team will report to Coach Alfred Winsor, Jr., '02, who will have charge of the team again this year. About 60 men have signified their intention of trying out for the team and these men will be divided into several teams for practice purposes. Early practice will consist of passing and shooting, and instruction in other fundamentals of the game will be given to new men.

Yale Squad Out

The Yale hockey season will open with a first call for candidates today, and practice will begin immediately. the squad has lost only three of last year's regulars by graduation, and last year's freshman team will furnish some good material. The four members of last year's seven who are in college are Captain Murray, Bierwirth, York and Gould, Armour and Jacobs, who were substitutes last year, will also be among the candidates. Manager Landon is arranging a Middle-Western trip, with games at Pittsburg for the holidays.

The squad will be materially helped this year by the opportunity for early practice offered by the artificial ice in the New Haven Arena. Heretofore the squad has been compelled to wait for natural ice or to go to the St. Nicholas Rink in New York for practice.
