CREWS HAD WORK-OUT ON RIVER

Yesterday was the first day the University crews were able to row on the Charles River. Thanks to ideal weather conditions and the work of Freshman crew managers in breaking up the ice, University C, D, E, F, G and H were able to take a short row from the Weld Boat Club. The ice still hinders the rowing from Newell Boat Club, but it is expected that the last of it will be gone by the end of the week.

University A and B continued their practice at Lynn, and no changes of importance were made. A long row was taken yesterday, with Coaches Herrick and Haines directing the practice. These crews will not return to practice on the Charles River until a longer stretch of open water is available, for since all the accommodations at Lynn are satisfactory, a great deal would be lost in returning at the present time.

The Freshman crews had their usual work-out on the machines and in the tank, but the upper Freshman crews will go on the water today. There will be much interest in watching the effect of outdoor practice on the order of the first two Freshman boats, as this will be the first time these crews have been in shells with the present line-up.
