PROF. BAKER OUTLINES PAGEANT

3,000 People Needed in Historic Tableau of Cambridge.

Professor G. P. Baker '87 has announced his plans for the Cambridge pageant to be held in the Stadium next June. The wonderful possibilities in the history of Cambridge as the subject for the pageant and the city's good fortune in possessing such a site as the Stadium for the presentation of an outdoor spectacle should assure it of all possible success. The pageant will serve to arouse the people of the city to an appreciation of the meaning of the city's past by bringing before them vivid selected sketches, and it will furthermore increase community spirit. Although the cost or the pageant will be covered by the money realized from the sale of tickets, it will be necessary to raise at least $15,000 to cover the preliminary expenses. All amounts pledged in support of the affair should be regarded as merely loans, redeemable after the presentation of the spectacle.

Not less than 3,000 persons must take part in the pageant to make it a success, and a brass band of at least 70 pieces will be secured.

Professor J. H. Beale '82 will probably be chairman of the rallying committee to raise the money. Three thousand dollars have already been pledged toward the undertaking, and committees will probably be appointed to collect the remaining $11,000 for preliminary expenses. It is desirable to collect the money as soon as possible.
