DONOVAN LEAVES FOR WAR WORK

Veteran Track Coach Will Supervise Development of Aviators.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Coach Donovan, who has had charge of the University track squads for several seasons and who has also directed the training of the football teams, will enter national service within a few weeks. His work will consist largely in supervising the physical welfare of students of aviation. A number of other noted college coaches, among them Mack of Yale, Fitzpatrick of Princeton and Moakley of Cornell, are also to engage in this recently organized branch of war service.

At the suggestion of Walter Camp in an address before the National Collegiate Athletic Association's convention in New York last month, the coaches were asked for their services. Excellent physical condition is of paramount importance to aviators, and college trainers are most eligible for supervision.

When Coach Donovan receives his final orders he will probably take up his work somewhere in the South. Upon his departure, the direction of the informal University and the Freshman track teams will be assigned to Coach Farrell, who has been assistant coach since the beginning of the track season.
