In their first game of the season, the University seven defeated the Boston Hockey Club by a score of 3 to 2 on the Charlesbank rink Saturday afternoon.
At the outset the Hockey Club took the lead on two well-shot goals by Hutchinson, a former B. A. A. player. T. M. Avery '21 had succeeded, however, in penetrating the opponents' defense, and the score stood 2 to 1 against the University at the end of the first half. During the second period Avery scored two more goals, and the game ended with the University leading.
Good team-play and drive characterized the University attack and defense, Hutchinson was easily the best player for the Hockey Club. The teams played as follows: Score--Harvard -3, Boston Hockey Club 2. Goals--Avery 3, Hutchinson 2. Penalties--Walker, Morton. Referee--E. O. Baker. Goal umpires--Peirson, Chatfield. Time--Two 15-minute periods.
