Preliminary qualification contests in the various posts of the Northeastern Department of the Army have been concluded and entrants are ready to compete in the Olympic tryouts which will be held in the Stadium on Saturday, June 12. These will be the first Olympic trials to be held in Cambridge, and will anticipate the national events which are scheduled for July 17. The first step in the new program for the encouragement of athletics in the Army was inaugurated with the recent championship tournament at Camp Devens, and in following up this policy the details of the Army meet have been arranged with the aim of making it the most complete athletic event ever held in the Northeastern Department. Trials in the various posts and forts have resulted in the choice of 125 competitors who are entered in the regular list of events, which will include the 400-metre relay race, decathlon, pentathlon, 5000-metre run, tug-of-war, and javelin throw. Five-men teams will also run in a 3000-metre contest.

Among other notable guests will be Major-General Edwards, Governor Calvin Coolidge, Mayor Andrew J. Peters, Rear Admiral Dunn and President Lowell.
