Informal talks by editorial writers connected with prominent metropolitan newspapers, and the application of the better features of the discussion group system to the work of producing college editorials are among the novel features planned for the coming CRIMSON 1922 competition, outlined last night at the opening meeting in the Crimson Building. Conferences led by journalists possessing a practical acquaintance with newspaper problems, will be called for the careful criticism of editorials submitted and general study of editorial methods, it was stated, and will enlarge appreciably the scope of the training offered by the competition.
Competition Still Open
Members of the Junior class who have not yet reported, but may desire to enter the competition and take advantage of the opportunity given for practice in wtriing and for a thorough study of the editorial side of journalism, may sign during the remainder of the week, by reporting to H. S. Villard '21 at the Crimson Building between the hours of four and five or seven and eight o'clock daily, afternoon and evening.
Besides the special discussion planned for once or twice each week, which candidates will attend, the competition will entail daily personal conferences with the editorial chairman, in which each man's work will receive the benefit of individual criticism and suggestion.
Choice of new editors, which will be made at the close of twelve weeks, will depend upon the number and quality of editorials printed, and upon a consideration of each man's general value to the paper.
