EASY PRACTICE FOR ELEVEN

Team A Goes Through Light Signal Drill -- Coaches Make Ready for Centre and Dartmouth Contests

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Coach Fisher limited yesterday's practice for the University eleven to a brief signal drill in order to allow the men a chance to recover fully from the effects of Saturday's game before beginning the vigorous work planned for later in the week. Although the University will face Bowdoin on Saturday, the Centre game on October 21 and more especially the Dartmouth game on October 28 are the two immediate objectives toward which the practices of the week will be pointed.

The Bowdoin eleven, with ten veterans, showed a real aerial attack against Amherst two weeks ago and won 28 to 7 although outclassed in end running and line plunging. On Saturday, however, Wesleyan swamped the Maine team 21 to 0 by crushing their defence.

Following the University eleven's workout yesterday, teams B and C were sent through a signal drill and then scrimmaged for a short time with the second team.

Team B Shows up Well

Team B showed a spectacular opening attack when the second eleven kicked off to Doherty, who caught the ball on his own 37-yard line and with good interference and good broken field running, raced to the six-yard line before being brought down. Two rushes followed for slight gains and then Doherty took it over on a line plunge. Later in the scrimmage Pfaffman attempted an unsuccessful field goal from the 35-yard line, but Braden a few moments afterward sent over a beautiful kick from the same distance.

Team B lined up with Pfaffman at quarterback, Chapin, Churchill, and Rouillard completing the backfield. Crosby and Gordon were on the ends, Greenough and Theopold tackles, Tower and Miller guards, and Bradford center.
