NEW BOOKS IN FARNSWORTH

Collection of Material on the War Being Formed--Includes Letters From Harvard Men

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Farnsworth Room of the Library is forming an interesting collection of material on the World War aside from the general collection which Widener is gathering of works on Harvard men in the War.

The Farnsworth matter is divided into two classes. In the first are books on the War in general. Among these are such works as John Mansfield's "Gallipoli", "Heroes All", which contains brief sketches of the lives of all men decorated for bravery by the United States government; a work on the part played by New England men in France and another which deals with the achievements of aviators from New England.

Then there is the matter which deals more particularly with Harvard men and the War. Personal letters of Harvard men and books containing the war records of preparatory schools from which Harvard men have come are included. Such school records are "Middlesex School in War" and the book of St. Mark's School. The collection also contains the diary of Alan Seegar '10, and the letters of Victor Emmanuel Chapman '13, Hamilton Coolidge '19, A. S. Hyde '96, Wainwright Merrill '19, W. H. Meeker '17, Norman Prince '08, Quentin Roosevelt '19, Walter Trumbull '14, and John Wright '20.
