COACH STEVENS WILL STUDY WESTERN TRAINING METHODS

Will Visit Six Universities, Leaving Squad Under Coach Newell

Edward A. Stevens, head coach of crew, left yesterday for Portland, Oregon, where he will spend the Christmas holidays. On his trip he expects to visit at least six of the western universities to study their method of training athletes. He will stop at the University of Chicago, Cornell, Oregon, the Oregon Agricultural College, University of Michigan, University of Washington, and possibly Syracuse University. It is from Syracuse that the plan for the proposed new tank at Newell was derived. Although it is not possible to build the tank this year, plans are under way for its construction next summer.

During Coach Stevens' absence from Cambridge, Coach Fred Newell of the 150 pound crews will have charge of the University squad.
