ADVOCATE PARODIES "NEW REPUBLIC" IN NEXT ISSUE

FIRST TAKE-OFF SINCE "ATLANTIC MONTHLY" SUCCESS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

For its annual special issue, which is to come out April 1. The "Advocate" will publish a "Newer Republic" number, a sort of mild satire of the "New Republic" magazine. This will be the first direct parody since the "Atlantic Monthly" issue was published three years ago with a success that created very favorable comment in literary circles.

The make-up of the special issue will directly follow the "New Republic" style, except that the advertisements will be carried in the usual manner. Among those articles which will deal with national topics will be one on the Herrin Massacre by Bruce Blithers, a special correspondent. The issue will also contain book reviews, short poems, and several pages of editorials on significant questions, all done in the "New Republic's" best style.
